APP PRICING

What does a custom app cost?

Quotes for an app run from a few thousand dollars to six figures. For a small business, ours start at $2,500, at one fixed price agreed before any work starts. The quickest way to know yours: we build a free working sample of your app first.

Where prices start

Your business in an app

From $5,000

One fixed price

Your logo and colors, your menu or services, booking, ordering, rewards and push notifications, running on the booking and payment systems you already use. On the App Store and Google Play.

Example: a patient app for a physical therapy clinic, with home exercises, visit booking and reminders.

A lighter version

From $2,500

One fixed price

The same app on your brand, linking to the booking and ordering pages you already have instead of rebuilding them inside the app.

Good when you mainly want to be on your customers' home screens and send them notifications.

A custom app built around your work

Priced by scope

One fixed price, in writing

Logins, your own data, payments, and an admin side for your team. We price it by what it has to do and put that price in writing before any work starts.

Example: a members app with accounts and a dashboard for your staff.

Already have an app and want it redesigned for the folding iPhone? That's a fixed $24,000.

What moves the price

How many screens

A focused app with eight screens costs a fraction of one with forty. Most small businesses need fewer than they think.

Logins and accounts

Once people sign in, the app needs somewhere safe to keep their data, password resets and account deletion. That adds real work.

Payments

Taking payments in the app means Apple Pay, cards, receipts and refunds. Linking to the checkout you already have is cheaper.

Connecting your systems

Pulling your menu, schedule or rewards from Square, Toast, Mindbody or similar depends on what that system lets an app do. We check before we quote.

iPhone and Android

We build both from one codebase, so Android adds a little, not double.

Tools for your team

A place for staff to edit the menu, see orders or send a notification is often worth it, and it's priced as its own piece.

The costs people forget

Apple's developer account
$99 a year, in your business's name. Apple asks for a free D-U-N-S number to set it up.
Google Play
$25, once.
Apple's cut
Apple's 15 to 30 percent applies to digital goods sold in the app. Food, products, appointments and services paid through Square, Stripe or Apple Pay don't pay it.
Updates
Apple and Google change their systems every year. Apps need small updates to keep working and stay in the stores.
Hosting
Apps with logins or their own data need a server. For a small business that's usually a few dollars to a few tens of dollars a month.

Questions

Why not use a template app platform?
Ordering and loyalty platforms rent you an app with your logo on their template, for a monthly fee, for as long as you use them. That can be fine. A custom app is yours, looks like your business, and can do what your template can't.
Do I own the app?
Yes. It's published under your Apple and Google accounts, and the code is yours.
Can I see it before I pay?
Yes. We build a working sample of your app first, free, so you can see it on your phone before you decide anything.
Is this only for Cincinnati?
No. We're based in Cincinnati and happy to meet in person around Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, Dayton and Columbus, and we build apps for businesses anywhere.
